P J Hayman & Company Celebrates 25th Anniversary

P J Hayman & Company Ltd (PJH) is celebrating its 25th anniversary as a specialist Travel Insurance and Scheme provider.

Peter HaymanFounded by Peter Hayman in December 1990, the organisation has grown from a start-up business employing two people into a multi-million pound business employing 38 staff with Peter Hayman at the helm throughout. Today, PJH insures tens of thousands of people every year either directly or through a large network of Brokers and other Intermediaries.

Peter Hayman, Managing Director of PJH comments: “Our 25th anniversary is a key milestone for our company. We have enjoyed significant ongoing growth in an increasingly competitive industry and 25 years on we still pride ourselves on remaining dedicated to providing products that meet the needs of our network and customers. Over the years, we have seen considerable changes not least with the rise of price comparison sites that have brought premiums down to such an extent that, in many respects, they are lower than they were when we first started trading! And of course there are more travellers. These days more than 17 million people† every year take up travel insurance, which is only set to rise with continuing changes in holiday patterns towards more frequent, shorter breaks. We are therefore very much looking forward to continuing to meet the consumers’ growing needs when it comes to specialist travel insurance and schemes.”

Over its 25 years of trading, PJH has achieved a number of key milestones including:

  • The establishment of niche products including cover for activities, coach operators, self-catering holidays, hazardous pursuits as well as for older travellers.
  • The growth of its flag ship product, Free Spirit, a specialist travel insurance scheme for those with pre-existing medical conditions and disabilities. Now one of the largest schemes of its kind in the UK, Free Spirit offers the key benefits of no upper age limit and insuring those with terminal illnesses.

PJH now boasts over 20 dedicated products within its portfolio offered directly to consumers and via its relationships with over 1,200 Broker and Scheme Providers.
