April 2017 – P J Hayman Update
Dear Supporting Broker,
We are delighted to bring you our latest PJH update.
New restrictions on airline hand luggage
As reported in many news stories, certain electronic items are now banned from being carried as hand luggage. Examples include laptops, tablet computers and phone chargers.
This affects travellers on direct flights to the UK from Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia.
Underwriters of PJH Travel Insurance products (Travel Plus; Free Spirit; Longstay & Backpacker and Adventures) have taken a flexible approach and agreed to waive exclusions in most cases until further notice.
Travellers are advised to ensure electronic devices are securely packed and that cases are locked before being checked in. Baggage should be collected as soon as possible on arrival, and if items are lost or damaged, the airline should be notified and a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) requested to support a claim.
