The latest travel trend is letting AI build your break for you. We’ve asked a few AI sites to build us a bank holiday break, so let’s see what they each came back with…
Firstly, we asked Trip Planner to plan some trip ideas for the next bank holiday weekend and we got some interesting feedback:
While the results from Trip Planner were short and sweet, they are a great starting point if you don’t have any set ideas. From here, the next step is to ask them to go into more detail about one of the ideas, so we have a full itinerary.
This time we said that we wanted the break to be in England over the next bank holiday weekend and that we are open to activity ideas. When we asked Mind Trip what we should do, they suggested a long weekend in the capital, London. They also put together this itinerary:
Day One: Check into a cosy hotel in Shoreditch and begin your weekend with a visit to the British Museum. Then head to Dishoom, Shoreditch, for an authentic Indian dining experience.
Day Two: Spend the day exploring London’s iconic landmarks. Start with a visit to Buckingham Palace to watch the Changing of the Guard, then move on to the Tower of London. Next, have lunch at Gloria to unwind before a stroll along the River Thames.
Day Three: On the final day, enjoy breakfast at The Breakfast Club in Soho, famous for its electric décor. Spend the morning shopping and exploring Covent Garden, and try to catch a street performance while you’re there. Finally, have dinner at Hawksmoor Seven Dials, which is known for its steaks. You could also add specific interests or additional requests in order to tailor your itinerary, but this sounds ideal for a long London weekend.
Next up, we looked at Vacay, who gave us a very concise itinerary for our bank holiday weekend. They started with some very specific questions. They wanted to know a preferred destination, the travel dates, budget and any interests they should consider. We started by requesting the 3rd – 5th of May 2025, which was over the upcoming bank holiday weekend, and as cheap as possible in the UK.
They came back with a recommended destination of Brighton, known for its beautiful beaches, unique shops and lively atmosphere. Their itinerary was basic but effective.
Day One: Arrival and explore Brighton pier, then dinner at a local pub.
Day Two: Beach Day and walk on the promenade, and visit the Royal Pavilion. Then spend the evening exploring The Lanes shopping, and finally have dinner at a local café.
Day Three: Visit the Brighton Museum before departing.
While their plan was simple, they did give some tips for places to stay and eat. Plus, they gave tips for saving money.
Accommodation Options:
1. YHA Brighton
• Average Price: From £18 per night (dormitory) or around £50 for a private room.
• Location: Seafront; great for budget travellers.
• Notable Features: Shared kitchen, free Wi-Fi and a friendly atmosphere.
2. The Beach Hotel
• Average Price: Around £70 per night.
• Location: On the seafront near Brighton Pier.
• Notable Features: Sea views, bar and full breakfast included.
Dining Recommendations

2. The Walrus – A cosy pub with affordable menus.

Finally, we tried Guide Geek and asked them to provide an itinerary for a bank holiday weekend break.
With the same information given, this is their suggestion:
“How about a trip to Lisbon, Portugal?” It’s a vibrant city with a mix of history, culture, and delicious food. Here’s a suggested itinerary:
Day One: Arrival and Exploring the City
• Morning: Arrive in Lisbon and check into your accommodation. Start your day with a visit to the historic district of Alfama. Wander through its narrow streets and enjoy the views from the Miradouro de Santa Luzia.
• Afternoon: Head to the iconic São Jorge Castle for a dose of history and panoramic views of the city.
• Evening: Enjoy a traditional Portuguese dinner at a local Fado restaurant, where you can listen to soulful Fado music.
Day Two: Culture and Cuisine

Day Three: Day Trip and Departure
• Morning: Take a short train ride to Sintra, a picturesque town known for its romantic 19th-century architecture. Visit the colourful Pena Palace and the mysterious Quinta da Regaleira.
• Afternoon: Return to Lisbon and do some last-minute shopping or relax at a café in the Chiado district.
• Evening: Head to the airport for your departure.
