Before you consider travelling to a high-risk area, it’s essential to check the advice of the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) to check if it is safe to do so. However, there may be an occasion when you need to travel against their advice. You can also check the risk status of your planned destination via the crisis watch website. This should give you a full understanding of the region you’re travelling to.
To look at covering risks such as these, we would look at our P J Hayman Worldwide product via Voyager. The policy has a choice of two cover levels, with up to £1 million in medical cover available. It can cover up to four different types of territorial zones, including war, disaster and relief zones. So even if you’re going to a high risk area, you can still travel, with confidence.

Perhaps the high-risk trip you’re taking is to a safe area, but you’re travelling for medical purposes. This kind of trip will come with plenty of medically related high risks of its own, so you should still seek adequate cover. If you’re travelling for surgery or any other type of medical treatment, speak to our team of specialists who will try their best to find you a policy.
